Piscine Naturali e Cala Feola
The “Piscine Naturali” are undoubtedly one of the most popular destinations on the island of Ponza.
They’ve formed as a result of the island’s intense volcanic activity and they are very particular in their form as they’ve been eroded by the weather and by the activity of the fishermen, who intervened to create shelters for their boats.
There are two large swimming pools, one enclosed by rocks and the other overlooking the sea.
Cala Feola is a natural inlet even accessible by land.
The beach is the only one in the whole island to be entirely sandy.
The western side has a jagged coastline due to the continuous marine and wind erosions that have occurred over the centuries.
In the immediate vicinity there is the rock of the tortoise, a name obviously due to the animal-like shape.
